What is Telehealth?
Meeting via Telehealth means meeting through a video call, using a HIPAA compliant, secure network. This can be done using internet, or an app on any device.
This gives clients the flexibility of meeting wherever they are! I have clients that call during their lunch break, reaching out while their child is in their dance class, etc.
You can use headphones, you can be at home or in your car, really the sky is the limit.
Teens have really enjoyed being able to independently sign on for appointments, and call from somewhere they feel comfortable.
Ultimately, the experience provides therapeutic benefits, and does not limit the experience a client is able to have.
*Minors are able to sign on/call without a parent present. Parents must sign consent forms prior to any meeting.
Here’s what you can expect from me:
I am pretty laid back. As a therapist, I am (drumroll please…) myself!
I often have a comfy sweatshirt on, a messy bun, my dog may be sitting with me, who knows. I really try to create an authentic atmosphere where you can feel comfortable being yourself.
It is important to mention that being laid back DOES NOT mean I don’t have theories and guidelines that I follow.
It means that I like to meet the client where they are at, and follow organic paths of conversation. I do have extensive experience using CBT, DBT, and psychoanalytic therapy. I employ evidence based interventions to help promote progress toward the client’s goal.
Confidentiality:
It is SO IMPORTANT that you feel safe in sessions! Unless you have given me permission both in person and on paper (and I have signed releases of information that allow me to disclose information), your sessions and private information are kept confidential. It is important to note that in cases of reported abuse and/or neglect and danger to self and/or others, I follow reporting laws as mandated by state laws.
I believe confidentiality provides clients of all ages with the ability to feel safe in a counseling atmosphere. I will always contact parents/guardians (and the proper authorities) if a minor shares something that may put themself or others in danger; however, it is vital that clients feel like they are able to open up without fear of parents “knowing everything.” If this is something that does not fit your needs, I will most likely not be the best fit for your family. If you have questions about this policy, please contact me.
